The Horn Quartet „HornRuf“, founded in 2003, excels in consisting of the four young hornists Simon Blaser, Philip Schmelzle, Claude Tremuth and Dominik Zinsstag. Three of the four musicians attended classes of Stefan Ruf at the Academy of Music in Basel over years and are now all students of the Horn Class Prof.Christian Lampert at the Music Academy in Basel. As a Quartet they attended numerous master classes e.g. with Prof. Michael Höltzel, Prof. Erich Prenzel and the American Horn Quartet. Furthermore, they dedicated themselves intensively to orchestral work, gaining precious experience at the “Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra”, the Bundesjugendorchester (Germany), the Schleswig- Holstein-Musicfestivalorchestra, the European Union Youth Orchestra i.e. the “Bundesstudentenorchester- Young German Philharmony” and also in professional orchestras like e.g. the “Tonhalleorchester” Zürich, the “Chamber Philarmony Amadé”, the WDR Radio Orchestra and the Hungarian Symphony Radio Orchestra. As soloists and in other chambermusical instrumentations, the members of the Quartet have been gaining first prices at the “Swiss Youth Music Competition”, at the countrywide competition “Jugend musiziert” (Germany), at the “Concours artistique” (France), at the “European Competition for Horn” (Luxembourg) and also as finalists of Eurovision “Young musician” in Lugano. As a Quartet they received several first prices in 2004 and 2005 at the “Schweizer Jungendmusikwettberwerb” (Switzerland), which qualified them for the “European Music Prize for Youth 2004” in Dubrovnik (Croatia) and out of which they came out as award winners. In 2007 they concerted at the “Graubünden Culture Festival” in Arosa, at the “Tonhalle” in Zürich, and also at the World Horn Congress of the “International Horn Society” which took place in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where they inter alia brought works of Swiss compositors to a world premiere. In 2008 they played the concert piece for 4 Horns of Robert Schumann with the Basel Symphony Orchestra. www.hornquartett.com |
